Coal still has a bright future particularly in the US. Coal has undergone a transformation and become ‘clean coal’. It is still cost effective and while supply is there, coal will continue to plan an important part of the energy mix.

Natural gas prices are at an all time low now. Coal plants are plagued with environmental problems and although part of the energy mix especially in the Midwest, coal does not have the brightest future.

Renewable energy will take time to take a foothold and become affordable without heavy government subsidies, and we are witnessing the growth in its steep curve.

One thing we need to measure is the carbon footprint, just because its renewable doesn’t mean its clean, I believe this is a notion that many people are blind to.
